Wizz RSS 3.0.0.1
Bug fixes and changes in 3.0.0.1: -
- Drag and drop for moving feeds and folders around the Category/Feed tree has been fixed.
- Keyboard navigation in the item list has been fixed.
- Render All Images was only rendering image enclosures attached to items that were visible in the item list.
- Render All Images was trying to render the feed title as an image.
- Play All Enclosures was only playing enclosures attached to items that were visible in the item list.
- Play All Enclosures was trying to play the feed title as an enclosure.
- I have reinstated the Home button on the preview page. Clicking the Home button will navigate to the feed's home page. There was a bug in the preview code that was causing the home button to use the same URL when multiple feeds were listed. This has also been fixed.
- Deleting a watched feed, that had found items in the watch list database, caused problems when opening the Found Items tab.
- I have reinstated the toolbar cleanup code. This should ensure that the irritating toolbar separators added to the Wizz RSS toolbar, by whichever extension is responsible, are removed.
- Import Livemarks has been fixed.
- A new pref has been added for controlling the number of tabs used by the Open Unread in New Tabs functionality. The pref is called WizzRSSMaxTabs. The default value for the number of tabs opened, at any one time, is 15.
- Mainly because I'm sick and tired of people reporting "bugs" with regard to the read/unread status of feeds and items not persisting, I have implemented code that'll check if the history is enabled and/or if browsing history is cleared on shutdown. The checks will be run every time the Wizz RSS sidebar is opened, and an alert will be displayed if either condition exists. Hmmmmm... I guess now I'll get a whole buncha people on my case about, "What is this damn message that keeps popping up, and I wish you'd fix the friggin' bug with persisting the read/unread status of items!" SIGH!
- Folder icons used by the Category/Feed tree has been changed to revert to using the default icons.
- Thanks to reptail, I have also added fi-FI localization.
- Mainly because I can't afford to renew my VeriSign code signing certificate, Wizz RSS will no longer be signed.
Wizz RSS Lite 3.0.0.0
Wizz RSS Lite is a totally new addon for Firefox 3. It is a stripped down version of Wizz RSS 3, with all of the Watch List functionality, and all of the weather functionality removed. It works in exactly the same way as Wizz RSS, except of course for the Watch List and the weather.
Please note: Wizz RSS and Wizz RSS Lite should not be enabled at the same time. i.e. If you choose to have both of them installed, only one of them should be enabled at any one time. The data structure of the database for Wizz RSS and Wizz RSS Lite is exactly the same, so moving from one to the other should be no problem at all.
You can get Wizz RSS Lite here -
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6759
Wizz RSS C#
Wizz RSS C# is a C# version of Wizz RSS News Reader. It is currently in beta and, if interested, you can read more about it
here and
here.
The C# version of Wizz RSS is built on msfeeds.dll and it requires the dot Net framework version 2.0 or greater and Internet Explorer 7.
If you'd like to beta test the C# version of Wizz RSS, you can download it
here.
Wizz RSS online help
The Wizz RSS online help is in the process of being ported to a Wiki format. Over the years, many people have had much to say about the online help, but very few have made themselves available to improve it. So here is the chance you've been waiting for :)
The new online help is available at
http://www.wizzrss.com/helpwiki/index.php/Wizz_RSS_Help. If you'd like to get involved with adding too or maintaining the online help Wiki, go for it! You don't need any special qualifications.
The old online help, if you'd still like to reference it, is still available at
http://www.wizzrss.com/help/WizzRssHelp.php. For those wanting to help out with the new help Wiki, I'm sure you'll find lots of useful stuff in the old help that is still applicable.
Sage-Too: For the Sage fans
Sage-Too is a Firefox 3 port of Sage 1.3.10. It is a joint development effort between Higmmer, Jeff T and myself (I think I contributed the least work to the project). So if you are a Sage fan looking for a Firefox 3 compatible version of Sage, give Sage-Too a try -
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7263
Sage-Too fixes many of the Sage bugs, addresses various vulnerabilities, and adds loads of sexy new functionality. It seems as if Jeff T and Higmmer are unstoppable, because even more new functionality is already on the cards for the next release.
Wizz RSS Localization
For those of you who are unaware of the process of localization, it is the process by which all of the labels and messages, used by a piece of software, are translated into various different languages. The process of localization thus makes that software available to more people in their native language.
Wizz RSS News Reader is currently undergoing localization at
BabelZilla, and the following locales have already been (Or are in the process of being) translated: -
If you'd like to get involved with localization, please join the guys at
BabelZilla. Once again, in return for your translation skills I can offer nothing more than undying gratitude, and your name being listed amongst those who have contributed towards the development of Wizz RSS :)
